I had a chance to work on the prop design for Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a part of the training program. It was awesome that I get to work on the show I was a big fan of when I was a child:) And experience on 3D show definitely expanded my skill set.  Thank you so much Irineo, Ashley, and the team Ninja Turtles!

This June, I started Nickelodeon Artist Program. I was assigned to T.U.F.F. Puppy for 3 month. I got to do characters, clean ups, and BG paintings. I was so lucky that all of my mentors were so genuine and spend their time to teach me!
For thank you card, I did a parody poster of "Spy in Your Eye" TUFF Puppy ver.

P.S. I secretly put Goma as one of incidental characters in one of season 3 episode:)

F for foxes in an ice cream truck. (but there's a trick...)

I got inspired by Nate Wragg's "Cat Food" from CalArts 2005, and Jason Schleifer's "The Bride of Gingy" from DreamWork's Holloween Special. I wanted to make cool yet analog fun factory machine.
The story is, Foxes lour kids around the ice cream truck, and snatch them. Then a kid gonna be shoot down, where Foxes make "Fresh Meatball". Those meat balls gonna be sold in the store up on street, and very popular with all moms around the neighbor.
Oh it's gonna be so fun to paint this one:)

Sketches.

I'm taking Shiyoon's Character Design class @CDA this semester. And I'm loving it. HMWK is to sketch real ppl, which I never tried it before. It's tough, but it's lots fun.

This week was to sketch "Family".

I saw this scary looking dad with cute little lady and a baby strapped on his chest.

@Chilli's followed by Americana. Looking at them make me so nostalgic...The time kids can be kids is so short, and vice versa, The time kid's being your baby kids for parets is short. Eventually they grow up to be pimple face ipod and text addict lol.

One of the problem is that I can't put characters in enviroment! I can't even spell enviroment, it's environment. Well, so I gonna do more practice. Inspiration are from Elsa Chang, Mike Yamada, and Tuna Bora. All super talented and mad respect them. 1st attempt.

I rough sketched a card with hedgehogs previously for Holidays, but I didn't finish it. So change of plan, making it to Valentine's card. I'm planning to sell greeting cards on Etsy.

New Brush.

I always try to get brush with awesome textures, but can't quite figure it out...This is what I came up with today. Hmm. Can somebody teach me? That'd be awesome.

Last term at CDA

Long time no post.

So last term, I took 2 classes at CDA: Color and Lighting with Mr. Bill Perkins, and Prop and Vehicle with Mr. Brian Yam. Both are great classes, awesome teachers. I haven't done traditional painting for so long, and what Mr. Perkins taught in the class was mind blowing.

And I tried Vehicle and Props...it's totally out of my comfort zone. When I was freelance at Mirada, I had to do car design. It was tough, and I decided to take this class, caz never knows what I will be asked to do, and I wanna be confident when that happens. Brian was great teacher, he took steps by steps to show you how it gets done. I'm not nearly even no way close to those who do vehicle and prop design for real, but at least I tried and itchy bitchy comfortable with doing it now:)
